I am fascinated by the concept of liminality, the “betwixt and between” states and experiences, the passing through thresholds, whether this be stages of development in the natural world, liminal areas such as coastlines, or stages of human experience, whether of individuals or communities. Much of my current work is also concerned with the way in which the processes of memory leave us with only an incomplete memory of such transitions in the human world. I am currently working on a series of pieces exploring key episodes in my own family history.
